Syncing is a niche feature but one that a lot of people could use. For example, say you were at work and you wanted to send a file to several people. You could email them, or you could just drop it in a work folder and have it sync to everyone on the network, and when someone else adds something then their changes will sync and so on

It has a high mass appeal to peopl with two Macs, and while there are definetly people in that situation, Macs are very expensive machines, and I think the majority of users out there only have one. Eye candy or no, Portal is a syncing app that is only usful to the people in the two machine martket, that automatically affects its marketability.

A lot of people see it and seem to think “It looks like it’s just effects”, yet anyone who has ever had more than two machines looks at in and thinks “I really wish I could have something like that”
