Kevin – I had a bad impression from Elements a while ago. I made the mistake of brushing Essentials off as something similar – I’ll have to give their low-end line another look.

It’s got most of the features of Photoshop but it’s only $99.

You’ll need X11 installed to run it, but it works really well.
